Khazar Ibrahim: Under Trump's leadership, US efforts contribute to prosperity of South Caucasus

Baku appreciates US President Donald Trump's efforts aimed at normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the prosperity of the South Caucasus region, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to the US Khazar Ibrahim said in an interview with the Washington Examiner, Report informs.

"We (Azerbaijan - ed.) saw a strategic approach. Of course, President Trump is a true leader and a true peacemaker. That is why from the early days after his election, we were confident that efforts would be made to ensure peace, prosperity, and development not only in our region but throughout the world," the diplomat noted.

According to him, Baku and Yerevan have been working very effectively towards a peace agreement for nearly three years.

"But a world leader who could help conclude a peace agreement was needed. And then, literally six months ago, after President Trump was elected, a world leader who wanted to bring peace emerged," the ambassador stated.

On August 8, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia initialed the text of the Agreement on Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington with the participation of the leaders of the US, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.
