Washington's establishment of a strategic partnership with Azerbaijan and Georgia is an important step, political observer Giorgi Khaindrava told Report.
According to him, Washington's continued suspension of Section 907 may be seen as the beginning of a new phase in Azerbaijani-American relations, and this decision demonstrates the US's high level of interest in the South Caucasus.
"Without Azerbaijan and Georgia, realizing these interests is impossible. Therefore, restoring relations, especially elevating them to a strategic level, is a very important step taken by the US," the political observer stated.
Khaindrava emphasized that this process, first and foremost, serves the Washington administration's own strategic interests: "As for Azerbaijan and Georgia, their position is absolutely clear. Today, the opportunities that Baku and Tbilisi can offer to Europe, the US, and Asia are of great significance. If they have serious intentions, these opportunities should be seized."
According to the Georgian expert, the positions of Azerbaijan and Georgia in the region and their existing capabilities will play a significant role in shaping the future geopolitical and economic realities of the South Caucasus.
"We, as two countries of the South Caucasus-one might say the region's main states-will certainly take advantage of these opportunities," Khaindrava added.
