Kamil Khasiyev: Serbia is one of Azerbaijan's closest friends on European continent

"Relations of sincere friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia have developed successfully in all areas in recent years and reached the highest level of strategic partnership."

Report"s Balkan bureau informs that Azerbaijani Ambassador to Serbia Kamil Khasiyev said this during his speech at an official reception held in Belgrade on the occasion of May 28 – Independence Day.

According to him, Serbia is today one of Azerbaijan's closest friends and reliable partners on the European continent.

"These relations are built on a strong political foundation. This relationship is again conditioned by the great strategic leadership and personal contribution of President Ilham Aliyev and President Aleksandar Vucic.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's official visit to Belgrade in February this year was an important milestone in the history of our bilateral relations. The first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council was held under the chairmanship of the two presidents, during which a number of important documents were signed, raising our partnership to a qualitatively new level. President Vucic's productive working visit to Baku in May made it possible to assess the results of the implementation of the decisions of the Strategic Partnership Council, especially in the energy sector.

Our economic cooperation is developing successfully and has even greater potential. Cultural ties are strengthening. Cooperation is gaining momentum in education, sports, youth policy, family and gender equality policy, environmental protection and many other areas," he said.
