Reconnecting industrial zones means restoring economic opportunities and creating conditions for long-term peace and cooperation, said Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, during the event Cities at the Center of Connectivity: Urban Reconstruction and Regional Cooperation held within the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
"New transport corridors, railways, highways, energy infrastructure, and digital networks integrate reconstruction areas into broader regional and international economic systems. These investments promote mobility, trade, investment, tourism, and employment, while also strengthening regional interdependence and long-term stability. Their impact extends far beyond Azerbaijan's borders, enhancing connectivity between Asia and Europe and contributing to wider regional economic growth and cooperation," Bayramov noted.
The minister emphasized Azerbaijan's recognized role as a key promoter of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (also known as the Middle Corridor) and the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), consistently advancing a multimodal connectivity agenda as part of its post-conflict strategy:
"The Washington Declaration, signed in August 2025, laid the foundation for the 'Trump Road' initiative in the name of international peace and prosperity. This initiative will not only ensure seamless multimodal connectivity between Azerbaijan's mainland and the Nakhchivan region, but also create a new strategic link connecting Asia and Europe through railways, highways, energy pipelines, electricity, and fiber-optic cables."
He added that the Horadiz-Aghband railway and Türkiye's new Kars-Iğdır-Dilucu line will complement the Zangazur Corridor, further strengthening regional connectivity and deepening ties between Asia and Europe.
