Jeyhun Bayramov: Relations between Azerbaijan and African countries are developing dynamically

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with a delegation of the Pan-African Parliament headed by its President Fathi Butbig, which is visiting Azerbaijan.
According to Report, which cites the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bayramov noted the dynamic development of relations between Azerbaijan and African countries in recent years.
In this context, the importance of mutual visits, political consultations and inter-parliamentary ties in expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation was emphasized.
The sides also discussed Azerbaijan's activities at international and regional platforms. Bayramov noted the country's contribution to the institutional development of the Non-Aligned Movement during its chairmanship, including the establishment, at Azerbaijan's initiative, of the Parliamentary Network and Youth Organization of the Movement.
During the meeting, Azerbaijan's role in strengthening international solidarity during the COVID-19 pandemic was noted. It was emphasized that, as part of the fight against the pandemic, Azerbaijan provided financial and humanitarian assistance to more than 80 countries, most of which are members of the Non-Aligned Movement, and also allocated funds to support recovery processes in Africa and small island developing states in the post-pandemic period.
The sides also exchanged views on cooperation in the field of climate, including expanding developing countries" access to climate finance during Azerbaijan's COP29 presidency.
Bayramov briefed the delegation on the situation in the region, measures to ensure peace and security in the South Caucasus, as well as the restoration and reconstruction of Azerbaijan's territories liberated from occupation.
It was noted that the potential for cooperation between Azerbaijan and African countries is not limited to the political and diplomatic spheres and covers energy, transport, agriculture, mining, education and the humanitarian sphere.
Fateh Boutbig highly appreciated Azerbaijan's attention to developing relations with Africa, as well as the country's initiatives to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and multilateral cooperation.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
