Azerbaijani and Russian Deputy Prime Ministers Shahin Mustafayev and Alexey Overchuk will meet in September to discuss trade and economic issues, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, following bilateral talks in Moscow on Friday, Report informs.
"First of all, I would like to note the high intensity of the implementation of joint projects in the trade, economic, and investment spheres between our countries. The meeting of the intergovernmental commission has already been mentioned... Considering the need to maintain regular contacts and existing developments, a preliminary agreement has been reached to hold a meeting between Azerbaijani and Russian Deputy Prime Ministers Shahin Mustafayev and Alexey Overchuk in September of this year to discuss a number of areas," Bayramov said.
He noted that the issue of trade and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia was specifically addressed:
"Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia in 2025 amounted to approximately $4.9 billion, and this positive trend compared to 2024 is approximately 2.5%. The intergovernmental commission between the two countries, whose 24th meeting was held in Zangilan in April of this year, plays a special role in the overall complex of Russian-Azerbaijani relations, specifically in the context of economics, trade, and investment.
Azerbaijan is consistently developing modern transport infrastructure and believes this is crucial for strengthening regional connectivity. We believe this track is crucial not only for mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia but also for strengthening the economic resilience of the entire region."
