Jeyhun Bayramov meets EU special representative Magdalena Grono

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has received Magdalena Grono, the European Union's Special Representative for the South Caucasus.

According to Report, citing the Foreign Ministry, the meeting focused on key issues on the Azerbaijan-EU cooperation agenda, prospects for developing the bilateral partnership, the current situation in the region, and efforts to strengthen regional peace and stability.

The sides noted the importance of high-level reciprocal visits and contacts for advancing and expanding the Azerbaijan-EU agenda across various areas.

They also discussed further development of the institutional and legal framework of Azerbaijan-EU relations, completion of negotiations on the bilateral Partnership Priorities document, and prospects for negotiations on a new bilateral agreement.

The meeting also covered steps being taken to ensure peace and security in the South Caucasus, as well as efforts toward normalization and confidence-building between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The importance of discussions held between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia during their meeting in Bishkek in August this year was emphasized in terms of advancing the regional peace agenda.

The sides also exchanged views on work being carried out in the region in the areas of energy and communications, as well as other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
