Jeyhun Bayramov informs his Saudi counterpart about Armenia's provocations

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting with Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on September 20, 2023, as part of the high-level week of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, during the meeting the sides exchanged views on issues of political, economic cooperation, energy security, humanitarian cooperation and a number of other areas on the agenda of bilateral cooperation, stressed the importance of mutual visits at a high level.

Presenting information on the latest developments in the region, Bayramov noted that the main threat to peace and security in the region was that the Armenian side did not withdraw its armed forces from Azerbaijani territory, contrary to the commitments assumed after the 44-day Patriotic War.

The minister noted that that on September 19, representatives of the so-called "regime" in the Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan undertook a number of large-scale military provocations and terrorist attacks, and local anti-terrorist measures have been carried out in order to prevent these provocations, as well as to ensure the implementation of the provisions of the trilateral statement, the withdrawal of the elements of the Armenian armed forces from Azerbaijani territories and the restoration of the constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the region.

It was stressed that the targets of the implemented measures are solely the illegal armed formations and military infrastructure, which are the main source of threats to peace and security in the region.

At the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
