Jeyhun Bayramov briefs Qatari diplomat on Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh al-Khulaifi, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

The prospects of Azerbaijani-Qatari cooperation, issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda, as well as the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, were discussed during the meeting.

Satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the two countries was expressed, and the importance of using the existing potential for further development of relations was emphasized.

Issues of cooperation within the framework of regional and international organizations, including the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), as well as the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), were discussed, and the need to continue mutual support and solidarity was noted. Opportunities for cooperation within the framework of the country's chairmanship of the OIC summit next year were also considered.

The importance of the decisions made during COP29, held in Azerbaijan last year, was noted, emphasizing that these achievements in the field of climate finance contribute to global action to combat climate change.

Bayramov also informed the other party in detail about the consequences of the past conflict and Armenia's occupation policy, the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the large-scale reconstruction and construction work carried out in the liberated territories, efforts to combat the landmine threat, as well as the progress of the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process.

Speaking about the challenges and obstacles facing the regional peacebuilding process, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov drew attention to the fact that territorial claims against Azerbaijan still exist in the Armenian constitution and a number of legislative acts.

The meeting also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
