The only risk facing Azerbaijan today is certain attempts by external forces to involve the country "in some kind of adventure," Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, Report informs.
Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan "stands firmly on its feet."
According to him, there are no internal risks for Azerbaijan. "All risks arise outside our borders. As for political risks, they are negligible, as are the risks associated with ideological subversion," the president said.
The head of state noted that "for us today, the only risk is certain attempts to involve Azerbaijan in some kind of adventure": "There were such attempts before, but they were more political in nature. We always successfully repelled them, and they have practically ceased. Today, these attempts (-ed.) are more serious and more threatening. Therefore, we are used to defending ourselves, as they say."
The president noted that attempts by external forces to influence Azerbaijan will continue and warned of the need for vigilance.
"In various conflicts, there is a group of countries that support you, and others that attack you. In our case, everything was completely different, and we had to fight back both physically and politically on all fronts. This is still happening, so there will be no peaceful life. Let no one count on it," he said.
He added that to counter these challenges, Azerbaijan plans to strengthen its security, borders, and threat-fighting systems.
