Ilham Aliyev: Occupation must end, and only then peace will reign in the region
Report/ Firi Salim

Baku. 5 April. REPORT.AZ/ Armenia should put an end to occupation of Azerbaijani territories, and only then peace will reign in the region.

Report informs, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at today's ministerial conference of the Non-Aligned movement in Baku.

President stressed that despite the gross violation of the norms of international law, sanctions have not been applied against Armenia yet.

"OSCE monitoring showed that the historical heritage of Azerbaijan was destroyed by Armenian vandals in the occupied territories. The occupation must end, and only then peace will reign in the region," the head of state said.

He noted that Armenia is a mono-ethnic country, where ethnic cleansing was carried out against other peoples, in particular ethnic Azerbaijanis.

At the same time, multiculturalism is a state policy in Azerbaijan: "Azerbaijan has been a space of religious diversity for centuries, this is our strength".

The President reminded that 100 years ago the ADR (Azerbaijan Democratic Republic) declared the rights of women on equal terms with men, and today "Azerbaijan continues these values of democracy".
