Humanitarian mine clearance no longer merely technical task - Russian diplomat

Humanitarian mine clearance can no longer be viewed exclusively as a technical task; it has become an essential condition for normalizing life in post-conflict territories, Report informs, citing statements by Deputy Director of the Department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Vadim Sergeev during a panel discussion at the 4th International Mine Action Conference in Baku.

"Humanitarian mine clearance can no longer be considered merely a technical task. It has become a necessary condition for human survival and the restoration of socio-economic activity," he noted.

Sergeev emphasized that the expanding area of contaminated territories, the growing scale of mining, and the rising cost of mine action operations require the accelerated adoption of modern approaches and technologies.

According to the MFA representative, Russia advocates for the training of qualified mine action specialists and the exchange of practical experience.
