Assistant to President of Azerbaijan, head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department at the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev held a meeting with representatives of Azerbaijani and Armenian civil societies in the city of Gabala as part of a bilateral roundtable organized as part Peace Bridge initiative.
According to Report, Hajiyev exchanged views with the participants and also answered questions from the Armenian delegation.
During the meeting, Azerbaijan's commitment to the peace agenda was emphasized. It was reiterated that official Baku remains committed to the agreed peace framework between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as to the spirit of the Washington Summit.
It was also noted that trade relations between the two countries are being established and that the transit of goods to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory has been ensured. The implementation of the TRIPP project was highlighted, with the expectation that it will help transform the atmosphere in the region and reshape the transport landscape of the entire region.
Hajiyev stated that just as negotiations on the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia are bilateral in nature, it is also important that these exchanges between civil societies and confidence-building measures maintain a bilateral character.
The presidential aide emphasized that, against the backdrop of new global turbulence and conflicts, ensuring peace and security in the South Caucasus is extremely important.
