"Every time I come to Uzbekistan, I rediscover how close our languages are. If you make a little effort, you can easily feel as if you are speaking in your homeland," Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev told journalists in Tashkent, Report informs.
According to him, representatives of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan try to communicate with each other using a mixture of Azerbaijani and Uzbek.
"To a certain extent, this works. When questions related to terminology arise, in some cases we also speak Russian. But mainly we try to give preference to the Uzbek and Azerbaijani languages. Written texts are easier to understand, and if you hear the speech more often, it also becomes easier to understand. Therefore, some practice is needed," he said.
