Gulshan Rzayeva: Clean air - key element of future urban environment

Clean air is a key element of the future urban environment, Gulshan Rzayeva, Deputy Head of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture and Deputy National Coordinator of WUF13, said at an event held at WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

"Air quality is our direct and crucial responsibility as urban planners, members of urban planning committees, and everyone involved in this process. We must ensure that cities are designed to be sustainable, healthy, comfortable, and accessible, with air quality directly impacting people's well-being," Rzayeva noted.

She emphasized that WUF13 is particularly significant because it addresses such important issues as clean air.

"This forum was created to discuss the challenges facing cities and societies in the context of rapid urbanization and global change. By 2050, approximately 70% of the world's population will live in cities, which will pose significant challenges. Cities are a source of economic opportunity, jobs, and GDP growth, but without sustainable and climate-smart planning, they can exacerbate the impacts of climate change and negatively impact public health," Rzayeva added.
