Although France was a co-chair of the former Minsk Group, its mediation yielded no results, stated Gulshan Pashayeva, Azerbaijani MP and a member of the Management Board of the Center for the Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), Report informs.
Pashayeva made this insight during the first-panel session themed "France's role in the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict" at the international event titled "France and the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict" held in Baku.
The MP highlighted historically positive relations with Paris and mentioned that France was among the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan's independence:
"Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1992. France, as one of the co-chairs of the OSCE's former Minsk Group, was involved in contributing to the resolution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict.”
“Although Azerbaijan sought to resolve the conflict through diplomatic means, the negotiations conducted during official Paris's mediation period yielded no results. Consequently, the Second Karabakh War occurred, and Azerbaijan ensured justice by liberating its territories from occupation."
