Grono: EU to continue supporting Azerbaijan–Armenia peace process

During her visit to Baku, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Magdalena Grono, held meetings with Azerbaijani officials to discuss the regional situation, EU–Azerbaijan relations, and prospects for peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Report informs.

In her recent post on X, Grono noted that she was glad to be back in Baku and to hold intensive consultations with Azerbaijani counterparts, including Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration; Elchin Amirbayov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan; and Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov.

She noted that the discussions focused on regional developments, EU–Azerbaijan relations, connectivity opportunities, the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as upcoming high‑level EU engagement in both countries.

Speaking about the peace process, Grono emphasized that Azerbaijani officials confirmed the importance of preserving the positive momentum achieved toward a lasting peace agreement.

"Agreed on the need to maintain the momentum of the series of historic achievements between the two countries on the road to sustainable peace, for which the EU will continue its support," she stated.
