Georgian media highlights Ilham Aliyev's remarks on European Parliament

Georgian media outlets have given extensive coverage to President Ilham Aliyev's remarks on the European Parliament.

According to Report's Georgia bureau, statements made by President Aliyev during a meeting with participants of international conferences held in Baku were widely covered by the country's media.

Leading Georgian television channels and news portals carried the Azerbaijani President's comments on the Council of Europe and the European Parliament, publishing excerpts from his remarks and video footage.

The news portal of Imedi television highlighted President Aliyev's comments on the treatment Azerbaijan had faced during its membership in the Council of Europe.

The outlet used as its headline the President's statement that, as a member of the Council of Europe, Azerbaijan had faced injustice, continued to face it and would most likely continue to do so in the future.

Imedi also covered Aliyev's remarks that Azerbaijan is one of the few Muslim countries represented in European institutions and is therefore well aware of the processes taking place within them.

Another statement that drew the attention of Georgian media was the Azerbaijani President's strong criticism of the European Parliament.

Imedi, 1TV, Rustavi 2, NewsHub and other media outlets highlighted Aliyev's statement that the European Parliament is "a nest of corrupt figures."

The reports noted that in explaining his position, the Azerbaijani President referred to a corruption scandal in the European Parliament and criticized the institution's response to those events.

1TV also covered other parts of Aliyev's speech, noting that he had recalled the corruption scandal in the European Parliament and criticized the institution's stance on Armenia's occupation policy against Azerbaijan.

President Aliyev's remarks in Baku were thus widely presented to Georgian audiences across various media platforms in both written and video formats.
