Azerbaijan has already become one of the main destinations for global forums, Badri Nachkebia, Honored Journalist of Georgia, Head of the Center for Terrorism and Political Studies, political scientist, and Doctor of Historical Sciences, told Report.
While assessing the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Nachkebia stressed that the decision to hold such a major UN forum on urbanization in Baku reflects the importance international institutions attach to Azerbaijan's experience in this field.
"After restoring its independence and territorial integrity, Azerbaijan launched large‑scale urban development projects in Karabakh and surrounding areas. This includes building roads, restoring villages and towns, constructing airports, streets, and modern infrastructure overall," he said.
The expert noted that Azerbaijan's projects can be considered a valuable international experience: "This is a very serious and important practice successfully implemented by Azerbaijan. I believe this experience can be useful not only for the post‑Soviet space but also for many countries around the world."
According to him, hosting WUF13 in Baku demonstrates that Azerbaijan is recognized internationally as a dynamically developing state: "I think the forum in Baku shows Azerbaijan is seen as a country introducing new approaches and serving as an example for other states."
He added that Azerbaijan has long been one of the main hosts of international events: "This is not the first international forum held in Azerbaijan. For many years, Baku has hosted major international events and forums. Each of these carries serious content and global significance."
