Gafarova highlights rapid development of Azerbaijan-Slovakia relations

Thanks to the political will of the leaders of the two countries and mutual support, relations between Azerbaijan and Slovakia have reached the highest level of strategic partnership in a short period, Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova said.

According to Report, Gafarova made the remarks at an event dedicated to Slovakia's Constitution Day and Armed Forces Day.

She said bilateral relations are based on mutual friendship, respect and trust and have developed intensively in recent years.

Gafarova noted that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's official visit to Slovakia in December 2025, as well as the subsequent visits of Slovak President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico to Azerbaijan, gave new impetus to bilateral relations.

She stressed that shared interests and mutual support are important features of the Azerbaijan-Slovakia strategic partnership.

According to Gafarova, bilateral relations are developing actively in a range of areas, including the economy, trade, energy, mutual investment, military-technical cooperation, education and interparliamentary ties.

She added that new initiatives would contribute to further expanding cooperation between the two countries.
