Foreign Minister: Relations between Azerbaijan and Italy are close and strategic

Relations between Azerbaijan and Italy are very close and strategic, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a press conference following a meeting with Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio.

Bayramov noted that this year Azerbaijan and Italy are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and stressed the importance of Luigi Di Maio's current visit to Baku.

The Foreign Minister recalled that in 2018, the President of Italy visited Azerbaijan, and during the visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Italy in February 2020, a "Joint Declaration on Strengthening Multidimensional Strategic Partnership" was signed. This document provides for a Strategic Dialogue between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries.

The first meeting of the Azerbaijan-Italy Strategic Dialogue was held today in Baku, following which a protocol was signed.
