Foreign Minister: Education has become a key area of Azerbaijan's international assistance

Students from more than 120 countries have studied or are currently studying in Azerbaijan, with a significant share of the country's international assistance focused on education, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at the conference "Strengthening Global Solidarity through Humanitarian Assistance and Development Cooperation."

According to Report, the conference marks the 15th anniversary of the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA).

Bayramov said that as Azerbaijan developed and its state institutions grew stronger, the tradition of individual charity gradually evolved into a systematic state policy of humanitarian assistance, knowledge exchange and development cooperation.

"This continuity is particularly evident in education. In the second half of the 20th century, tens of thousands of students from Asia, Africa and Latin America studied at higher education institutions in Azerbaijan," Bayramov said.

He noted that this tradition continues today through the Heydar Aliyev International Education Grant Program, programs for students from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Non-Aligned Movement countries, as well as training courses for foreign diplomats.
