The US government, forgetting about the criteria of justice, constantly made statements in support of Armenia at hearings on Karabakh during the 30-year period of occupation, chairman of the Khatai district organization of the New Azerbaijan Party, Doctor of Political Sciences Vugar Rahimzada said, Report informs.
He noted that the hearings held in the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations regarding the situation in Karabakh once again demonstrated what position the US takes against Azerbaijan: “They teach the whole world a lesson in international law, but they themselves are far from understanding it, raising hypocrisy and betrayal to the level of state policy. In addition to the fact that in the reports of American organizations, in particular of Freedom House, Armenia is presented as a 'free country' in terms of democratic development, and Azerbaijan as an 'not free country,' the organization for some reason also calls Karabakh joint territory of Armenia and Azerbaijan. During the 30-year occupation, Azerbaijan expected a fair position from the US as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and one of the co-chairs of the former OSCE Minsk Group, which has already been consigned to the archives of history. But this never happened."
Rahimzada noted that the US Congress, under various pretexts, provides material and moral support to both Armenia and the separatist regime created with its military-political support: “I would like to remind that impunity for one crime invariably gives rise to the next one. The US seems to be specifically protecting the occupation and Armenia's terrorist policy."
He added that if Azerbaijan had received at least a small part of the support currently provided to Ukraine, Azerbaijani lands would not have remained under occupation for so many years: "As can be seen from the above hearing, while supporting the territorial integrity of Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, is considering Abkhazia and South Ossetia as an integral part of Georgia, Transnistria as an integral part of Moldova, and Donbas and Crimea as an integral part of Ukraine, and supporting these countries on all international platforms, the United States demonstrates support for Armenia, forgetting about the concepts of justice and international law in relation to Azerbaijan. Let's pay attention to cases when Armenia committed provocations on the front line in order to obstruct or delay the process of signing a peace treaty and used the 'humanitarian crisis' show. Instead of forcing the occupying country to sign a peace treaty, US officials began calling President Ilham Aliyev. I would like to remind that, according to the agreement reached at the last meeting, which took place in Washington on September 1, communication routes in the region were to be opened and the Aghdam-Khankandi route launched. Instead of putting pressure on the Armenian leadership, the US retreated from its position. Today, both the State Department and Congress are talking only about the need to open the Lachin road."
The chairman of the Khatai regional organization of the NAP emphasized that the US showed hypocrisy on the issue of the so-called elections that took place in Karabakh some time ago: “While leading states and organizations declared non-recognition of the separatist regime and its 'elections,' Washington preferred to remain silent. Only after pressure from Azerbaijan, the US State Department, at the level of its ordinary representative, had to verbally declare that it did not recognize the 'elections.' At a hearing on the situation in Karabakh in the US Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs relations, acting US Under Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Yuri Kim spoke about the 'rights of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.' The US ignores today's realities and is seriously trying to legalize the military junta in Karabakh. It seems that today the US, along with France, acts as a party that impedes the process of reintegration of the Karabakh Armenians and stimulates revanchist forces in Armenia. The policy pursued by the US is based only on its own interests. It would be naive to think that today's hypocritical policy of Washington will benefit Armenia."
