Federation Council Committee hails elections in Azerbaijan

"The elections were very transparent. Organization of the process outside Baku was as good as in the capital city," Chairwoman of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education, and Culture Lilia Gumerova said.

"We have worked in Baku for three days and participated in the monitoring within international organizations, including the CIS Executive Committee and the CIS IPA. On election day, we visited 11 polling stations in three constituencies. The work of all polling stations was coordinated. As an observation mission, we witnessed the high professionalism of the chairmen working in the district commissions. They know the legislation. Cameras monitored all the sites we visited.

"We recorded a large number of observers, and the country created all the conditions for the voters," Gumerova said.

Commenting on voter turnout, the Russian observer noted that they observed the peak of voter turnout during the day.

"It was progressive growth. The turnout of 47% is objectively good, and we believe that there was no agiotage and politicization of the process. In other words, it is a sign of stability."
