Holding the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, a city where rich historical heritage, modern architecture, national traditions, and global innovation harmoniously blend, has a particularly symbolic significance, Azerbaijani MP Fatma Yildirim said at the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly held in Baku during WUF13, Report informs.
"Today, the world faces new global challenges of urbanization, climate change, migration, environmental security, and social inequality, which require states to adopt completely new approaches to urban development. This is why international platforms like WUF13 are crucial for sharing experiences, making joint decisions, and strengthening international cooperation," the MP said.
Yildirim noted that Azerbaijan has repeatedly served as a platform for international dialogue and cooperation, and "today's forum once again confirms the country's growing role on the global agenda."
"I am confident that the ideas and initiatives discussed at WUF13 will make a significant contribution to the development of international partnerships and help shape a more sustainable, just, and secure world for future generations," she said.
