EU, UN to continue supporting Azerbaijan's demining efforts

The EU and member states are the biggest international donors for demining in Azerbaijan with around 8 million euros, head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Peter Michalko said on Twitter, Report informs.

“We deplore all victims of landmines worldwide, including in Azerbaijan. We will continue this support for demining, including by providing expert advice, and assistance to conflict-affected populations, rehabilitation and reconstruction. The EU is firmly committed to building sustainable peace in the region,” he tweeted.

Head of the UN office in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva said on Twitter that the UN in Azerbaijan will continue to support ANAMA and work with partners to clear landmines and build a better future: “Landmines and other explosive remnants pose threat to human life and sustainable development.”
