EU, Azerbaijan to hold next round of negotiations on new bilateral agreement

The next round of negotiations on a new bilateral agreement between the European Union (EU) and Azerbaijan will be held today, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at the European Union Eastern Partnership Foreign Ministers meeting on December 12.

According to him, the EU is the largest trade and investment partner of Azerbaijan:

"The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the EU and Azerbaijan in July 2022 is vital in terms of the transportation of natural gas under stable and favorable conditions, as well as the potential export of green energy to Europe. We are also working with our partners on the export of green energy from Azerbaijan to Europe and expect a noticeable step in the near future."

"Azerbaijan and the EU are also working on implementing the EU Economic and Investment Plan in Azerbaijan, which is an excellent example of project-oriented cooperation. The first meeting of the high-level joint working group was held in Baku last week. Negotiations on a new bilateral agreement between the EU and Azerbaijan continue, and the next round of talks between the delegations will be held today," Bayramov added.
