Elise Becker: Azerbaijan may train other countries to use mine detection dogs

Over two decades, Azerbaijan has developed significant capacity in the deployment of mine detection dogs and is now able to share its accumulated expertise at the international level, Report informs, citing statements by Executive Director of the Marshall Legacy Institute Elise Becker at the 4th International Mine Action Conference in Baku.

According to her, while expertise and practical experience were only transferred to Azerbaijan during the early stages of cooperation, today the exchange operates bidirectionally.

"Azerbaijan has accumulated such significant experience in this area that it can now share its knowledge with us to the same extent that we can share our experience with it," Becker noted.

The executive director also highlighted the importance of regional and international cooperation, including the exchange of best practices in mine action.

"I believe that given the capacity Azerbaijan possesses today in the deployment of mine detection dogs, the country is excellently positioned to participate in international knowledge sharing," she said.
