Elchin Amirbayov: Azerbaijan's regional policy based on principle of mutual benefit

Azerbaijan's foreign policy aims to ensure that all ties established and projects implemented in the region are mutually beneficial for both parties, Elchin Amirbayov, Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Special Assignments, told Report.

The representative emphasized that during panel discussions (at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum – ed.), the importance of a positive approach to such a concept for long-term and large-scale cooperation was emphasized.

"Our main goal is not only to ensure economic growth but also to strengthen humanitarian ties. We view the Zangazur Corridor as an integral part of the Middle Corridor. This contributes to strengthening Azerbaijan's role as a key geostrategic link in the region," Amirbayov noted.

Elchin Amirbayov emphasized the highly productive nature of cooperation for Türkiye, while also noting that Georgia should not be forgotten. "The existing routes running from Azerbaijan through Georgia to Türkiye and further to Europe are the foundation for implementing key initiatives in the transport, logistics, and energy sectors," he said, adding that all participants will benefit from these initiatives, which have a significant impact on the region's development.

The presidential representative also addressed the issue of Armenia's participation in regional projects. He stated that the country, which had found itself isolated due to its previous policies, can take advantage of the win-win principle as a result of the peace process.

"Armenia's accession to the peace process and the development of relations based on mutual trust are crucial. Only then will Yerevan be able to reap the benefits and integrate into regional economic cooperation. I believe that 2026 will be a decisive year in this regard," Elchin Amirbayov concluded.
