Azerbaijan is a successful example for COP31, said Elchin Allahverdiyev, Head of the Climate Diplomacy Department at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), during UNFCCC Climate Week 4 (CW4) in Baku, Report informs.
Allahverdiyev underscored that Azerbaijan has pursued effective diplomatic policies: "Hosting COP29 was itself an example of successful management. As a country relatively new in this field, we approached the responsibility with seriousness, prepared thoroughly, established connections with all parties and international organizations, and ensured inclusivity from the very beginning. This helped us build trust among parties and non‑parties alike. During our presidency, we acted as a reliable partner, and Azerbaijan fulfilled its commitments responsibly."
He added that Azerbaijan, as a responsible member of the international community, successfully carried out its duties: "We prioritized transparency in our agenda and submitted our transparency report ahead of the deadline. This encouraged other countries, leading to more than 100 reports being submitted by the end of COP. It built trust and motivated others to contribute. Now we are preparing for the second phase of transparency reports, working with COP30 and COP31 presidencies to encourage broader participation. I believe Azerbaijan's role and achievements will serve as a model for COP31's success. I wish brotherly Türkiye success."
COP31 will be held this November in Antalya, Türkiye.
