Donald Trump's meeting with Ilham Aliyev begins

A bilateral meeting has begun in Washington between US President Donald Trump and Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev, Report informs.

US President Donald Trump officially welcomed Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the White House.

The two leaders standing in front of the US and Azerbaijani flags greeted each other warmly. During the meeting with Ilham Aliyev, Trump shook hands warmly and had a brief cordial conversation in front of media representatives.

The meeting continues with bilateral discussions between the two leaders behind closed doors.

President Trump will hold extensive discussions with the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia on cooperation plans to advance the peace process and issues of mutual interest in US-Azerbaijan relations.

At the end of the meetings, official statements about the results are expected to be given to journalists in the Oval Office.

When a journalist asked President Trump if there was hope for reconciliation after the meeting, Trump replied, "I am very, very hopeful."
