The events of August 8, inscribed in golden letters in the history of Azerbaijani diplomacy, marked a long, difficult, yet glorious path of the country toward achieving the goals of the peace concept laid out by national leader Heydar Aliyev and fully developed by President Ilham Aliyev in accordance with the challenges of the time, Prime Minister Ali Asadov said at a special government session dedicated to the outcomes of the President’s visit to Washington, according to Report.
He noted that these achievements are the logical result of the strong leadership of the President of Azerbaijan, his tireless efforts, unwavering iron will, determination and principled approach, brilliant diplomatic skills, great foresight, and wise decisions:
“Based on them are the new geopolitical realities arising from the liberation of our Karabakh and all occupied territories, as well as the guarantee of our absolute sovereignty, and at the same time the strengthening of Azerbaijan’s influence in the international arena.”
The Prime Minister emphasized that in the post-war period, Azerbaijan’s foreign policy prioritizes the establishment of lasting peace, mutual recognition of state borders, and the opening of communication lines.
“In this regard, the documents signed in Washington carry special significance. On one hand, Azerbaijan lays the foundation for long-term peace with Armenia, and on the other, it elevates its strategic partnership with the United States to a new level. This not only strengthens bilateral relations but also increases Azerbaijan’s role on the global economic and transport map of the region,” Ali Asadov said.
