Diario La R: IV Shusha Media Forum - international platform for discussing future of journalism

The 4th Shusha Global Media Forum is becoming an international platform for discussing the future of journalism, reads an article in the Uruguayan newspaper Diario La R., Report informs.

The authors praised the pace of restoration work in Shusha, as well as the overall organization of the 4th Global Media Forum.

"Azerbaijan is striving for more than simply rebuilding a city devastated by years of conflict. It is also about restoring a national narrative and presenting it to an international audience," reads the article.

The publication notes that the motto of the 2026 forum, "The Mission of the Media in Promoting Peace: Restoring Truth and Rebuilding Trust," has also become symbolic.

"In an era when artificial intelligence, disinformation, and geopolitical interests compete for influence on global public opinion, the choice of Shusha as the forum's venue conveys a carefully crafted political message," the article states.

The publication also notes that the information space has become a new theater of confrontation – the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the war in the Middle East, and tensions in the Indo-Pacific region.

"States are increasingly investing in strategic communications, while traditional media simultaneously face a crisis of trust, economic sustainability, and technological competition. Against this backdrop, Shusha strives to become an international platform for discussing the future of journalism," the author emphasizes.

According to the authors, the international significance of the Caucasus region far exceeds its geographical size.

"The South Caucasus is a strategic bridge between Europe and Asia. Today, Azerbaijan is positioning itself as an alternative energy supplier. This strengthens Baku's diplomatic position and largely explains the growing international interest in the region's stability," the article emphasizes.
