Over the past three years, more than 30 high-level visits have been conducted between Azerbaijan and African countries, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev told journalists, Report informs.
"In recent years, cooperation between Azerbaijan, the African Union, and individual countries in the region has developed particularly dynamically. Over the past three years, more than 30 high-level mutual visits have taken place. Many African leaders have visited Azerbaijan both on official bilateral visits and within the framework of multilateral platforms," Rafiyev noted.
He emphasized that Africa is an important region that supported Azerbaijan even during the period when its territories were under occupation: "We have consistently received support from a number of African countries, and this successfully continues today. In the post-conflict period, the continent's states have consistently supported Azerbaijan's initiatives, its candidacies, as well as Baku's agenda in global politics, climate, and urban development."
The deputy foreign minister also added that Azerbaijan is systematically expanding its presence in African countries. "I am confident that in the coming years we will witness significant progress in this area," the deputy foreign minister concluded.
