Declaration brings Azerbaijani-Russian relations to allied level, President Aliyev says

The declaration signed between Azerbaijan and Russia brings the relations between the two countries to the allied level, President Ilham Aliyev said at a press conference following the talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, as quoted by Report.

"This is both a great privilege and a great responsibility. And we have been working towards this day stubbornly, for a long time, building up the potential for cooperation, building relations based on sincerity, good neighborliness, pragmatism, and taking into account mutual interests," the head of state said.

The Azerbaijani leader noted that the practical work on the declaration began just over a year ago.

"During this time, the relevant expert groups of our countries have agreed on a very extensive document, consisting of 43 paragraphs, covering almost all the main areas of our activity," the President stressed.
