Davron Vakhobov: ECO is priority direction of Uzbekistan's foreign economic policy

Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Davron Vakhobov, proposed holding a business forum in Afghanistan to expand cooperation between the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

As per Report, Vakhobov made the proposal during the sixth ECO business forum held in the city of Shusha, Azerbaijan.

According to him, cooperation with Afghanistan has great prospects. "I myself have visited several cities in Afghanistan and am convinced that this initiative can be successfully implemented there," he noted.

"For Uzbekistan, the ECO is not just an economic platform, but a space for interaction between historically close, fraternal peoples united by a common history, culture, religion, as well as similar customs and traditions. Uzbekistan considers the ECO as a priority area of its foreign economic policy and advocates for further strengthening all forms of cooperation within the organization, from trade and investment to science, technology, ecology and humanitarian initiatives," Vakhobov emphasized.

In addition, Vakhobov also proposed establishing an ECO investment fund to support the joint production of infrastructure projects.

This fund, in his opinion, can become a financing tool for launching industrial zones, logistics hubs and processing plants.
