Climate and informal settlement challenges discussed at WUF13

Issues related to climate change and informal settlements, particularly the impact of climate change on such communities in Latin America and Africa, have been discussed in Baku at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum 13, Diego Pajarito Grajales, a geospatial data researcher at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, told Report.

He noted that climate change and extreme weather events create serious challenges for communities living in these areas.

"Participants in the discussions emphasized the importance of developing different strategies and strengthening support for communities to address these problems," he said.

According to him, holding the World Urban Forum in Azerbaijan is of great importance.

"The forum provided participants from different countries with new experience. Participants consider this forum an important platform for strengthening international cooperation, sharing experience, and building a more sustainable housing environment in the future," he added.
