A panel discussion titled "Strengthening Urban Resilience Through Citizen Participation and Strategic Communication" was held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), according to Report.
Speaking at the event, Torekhanim Nasrullayeva, lecturer at the Baku Military College under the National Defense University, highlighted the importance of public engagement in urban planning projects.
Participants noted that modern cities continue to face major challenges, including limited civic participation, weak communication channels, and overly centralized urban planning systems.
The discussion also focused on international practices in the field. Participants emphasized that in Singapore, digital platforms enable citizens to take an active role in housing and urban development decision-making processes. Technology, speakers noted, is increasingly seen not only as a technical tool, but also as a social bridge connecting institutions and communities.
The event concluded with an exchange of views on contemporary urban planning issues and approaches to strengthening urban resilience.
