CICA senior officials meet in Astana under Azerbaijan's chairmanship

A regular meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia was held under Azerbaijan's chairmanship at the administrative building of the CICA Secretariat in Astana, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

The meeting discussed events held under Azerbaijan's CICA chairmanship under the motto "Stronger CICA: Digitalization, Connectivity and Sustainable Growth in Asia," aimed at strengthening confidence and expanding cooperation among member states.

The Azerbaijani chairmanship provided information on progress in developing the agenda for transforming CICA into an international organization, including progress in negotiations on the relevant draft Charter. The participants also exchanged views on the positions of member states.

The participants held preliminary discussions on preparations for the CICA Summit, which will be held in Baku this year, as well as draft possible outcome documents for the event proposed by Azerbaijan's chairmanship.

In line with the committee's agenda, the meeting also discussed issues related to the development of the composition and structure of the CICA Secretariat, the expansion of its international partnership network, and conceptual documents on priority areas of cooperation within the organization.

The participants also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest to CICA countries, including its institutional development, initiatives put forward in this regard and events held under the framework.
