CICA chief: Youth key to sustainable region

Today's youth are not merely beneficiaries of development policies but active partners in shaping a more peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable region, Kairat Sarybay, Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), stated at the 9th meeting of the CICA Youth Council, held under Azerbaijan's 2024–2026 chairmanship, Report informs.

Sarybay noted that while cities have become hubs of economic growth, innovation, and cultural exchange, they also face serious challenges related to ecological sustainability, social inclusivity, and public health.

"Young people, as representatives of the digital era and drivers of change, have the potential to propose innovative solutions and contribute to building smarter, greener, and more sustainable urban environments," he emphasized.

The Secretary General added that the CICA Youth Council meeting serves as an important platform for sharing national experiences.

Sarybay also highlighted the symbolic significance of holding the session in Baku White City, one of the region's most ambitious urban development and reconstruction projects.
