The Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) plays a unique role in strengthening mutual cooperation and trust between countries, Ambassador Yan Wenbin, Representative of the Department of European and Central Asian Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at the 13th Meeting of the CICA Think Tank Forum, Report informs.
Wenbin stated that China has consistently supported, engaged in, and advanced the CICA process with concrete actions.
"It goes without saying that the current international landscape is highly complex, with the world once again standing at a crossroads of history, facing critical choices about its future path. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the founding of the United Nations, underscoring the urgency of promoting the establishment of a more just and equitable international order that can ensure lasting peace, security, development, and prosperity for the world," he said.
The official also pointed out that as a regional security forum, CICA must continue to devote great efforts to enhancing security dialogue and cooperation, thereby safeguarding regional peace and stability.
"As the most representative security forum in Asia with the widest geographic coverage and the largest membership size, the CICA plays a unique and constructive role in enhancing communication, strengthening mutual trust, and fostering cooperation among regional countries," he added.
Wenbin further mentioned that guided by the principles of mutual benefit and market economy, safeguarding the security, stability, and resilience of supply chains within Asia and between Asia and other regions aligns with the interests of all stakeholders.
"Acts that violate the natural laws of economic cooperation and technological development, such as pursuing decoupling and supply chain disruption through unilateral economic coercion or forcibly restructuring supply chains, harm others without benefiting oneself and are ultimately bound to fail. A key component of the Belt and Road Initiative is strengthening connectivity in transportation infrastructure. Therefore, China supports and is willing to participate in various connectivity projects within the Eurasian region, such as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor," the ambassador explained.
