Numerous manifestations of Islamophobia are observed in France, Ravan Hasanov, executive director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC), said at the international conference on “Islamophobia as a Specific Form of Racism and Discrimination: New Global and Transnational Challenges".
The executive director said that holding the international conference in Baku shows that Azerbaijan is a multicultural state:
"Societies must fight against Islamophobia. For example, in France, we observe numerous manifestations of Islamophobia. There are currently 5 million Muslims living in France. Islam is marginalized in some societies. However, this is one of the main reasons for religious discrimination in communities."
