BIG signs first memorandum with state institution of African country

The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) and the Institute for Advanced International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso have signed a memorandum of understanding.

According to Report, the document was signed by BIG Executive Director Abbas Abbasov and Director General of the Institute for Advanced International Studies Philippe Sandwidi.

The memorandum aims to develop cooperation between the parties and represents another step in expanding BIG's international activities, including its engagement with African partners.

Previously, BIG had signed similar documents with political parties and movements in various countries. The new memorandum marks the organization's first agreement with a state institution of an African country.

The document envisages the development of cooperation with leading research institutions, analytical centers, and civil society organizations of African countries, as well as strengthening ties between BIG and the countries of the Global South.

Within the framework of the cooperation, the parties plan to prepare joint analytical reports and policy papers on issues related to the consequences of colonialism on the African continent, neocolonial governance, exploitation of natural resources, economic dependency, and reparations. These materials will be presented to the international community.

The parties also intend to expand cooperation in these areas within international organizations and put forward joint initiatives. In addition, regular dialogues, research projects, and annual international conferences on decolonization and neocolonialism are planned.

The memorandum also provides for the participation of BIG experts in events held in African countries, as well as the implementation of exchange and training programs for young researchers and other academic initiatives.
