BIG intends to expand efforts to promote return rights of Western Azerbaijanis

The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) will continue to intensify its work on international platforms to highlight the right of Azerbaijanis displaced from present‑day Armenia to return to their homes, BIG Executive Director Abbas Abbasov said in an interview with Baku TV, Report informs.

Abbasov noted that the organization aims to bring this issue to the forefront of the international political agenda through the UN, the Human Rights Council, various global organizations, and civil society institutions.

"Over the past three years, BIG has organized more than 40 international conferences, published over 55 reports, and submitted nearly 20 alternative reports to relevant UN bodies. By placing this issue on the agenda of international organizations, we seek to restore historical justice," Abbasov said.

He further stated that the results of these activities are also reflected in changes to national legislation. "Our main goal now is to ensure that the right of Azerbaijanis displaced from modern‑day Armenia to return is consistently brought to the attention of the international community," he emphasized.

Abbasov added that it is crucial to act consistently against circles that demonstrate selective and double standards: "By organizing an event in the US Congress, we showed this is possible. The same approach must be applied across other international platforms."
