Bayramov meets Czech, Cuban counterparts in New York

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Czech and Cuban counterparts, Petr Macinka and Bruno Eduardo Rodriguez Parrilla, on the sidelines of a high-level UN Security Council meeting on "Defending the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and strengthening the UN-centered international system," Report informs, citing Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

Bayramov once again congratulated his Czech counterpart on his appointment as foreign minister.

During the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation between Azerbaijan and Czechia in political, economic, energy, humanitarian and other areas, and exchanged views on recent regional and international developments.

It was emphasized that the existing high-level political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Czechia, mutual visits and contacts by representatives at the level of heads of state and government, as well as parliaments, and political consultations between the foreign ministries give impetus to the development of relations both bilaterally and within multilateral platforms.

The sides reviewed issues arising from important agreements reached during Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš's visit to Azerbaijan in April this year.

Satisfaction was expressed with the current level of development of Azerbaijan-Czech economic and trade relations, and attention was drawn to the importance of increasing mutual investment and diversifying existing areas of cooperation to make these ties more sustainable.

At the meeting, the minister briefed the other side in detail on the former Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, large-scale restoration and reconstruction work in the liberated territories, as well as the mine threat in the region.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.

At Bayramov's meeting with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Eduardo Rodriguez Parrilla, satisfaction was expressed with the development of relations, and discussions were held on the positive dynamics observed in ties between the two countries in recent years.

It was noted that Azerbaijan and Cuba have historical and cultural ties, and the importance of further expanding cooperation in education and healthcare was emphasized.

The sides also discussed prospects for cooperation between the two countries on multilateral platforms, including the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), as well as Azerbaijan's humanitarian and development assistance to small island developing states (SIDS). Gratitude was expressed for Azerbaijan's humanitarian aid to Cuba and educational scholarships.

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, including the security situation in the Caribbean and the Middle East.
