After the summit of the leaders of the US, Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington, Russian propaganda responded with a series of insults and threats against Azerbaijan and its leadership, reads a story by Baku TV, Report informs.
Leading Russian TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov expressed concerns about the possible deployment of a NATO base in the Caspian Sea and called for a new "special military operation". Some State Duma deputies supported such statements, including General Andrei Gurulev, previously known for his harsh statements, who again spoke about a military threat against Baku.
He proposed imposing a ban on the import of Azerbaijani goods and "pinching from" Azerbaijani entrepreneurs in Russia, openly making it clear that "the SVO (special military operation) is a wide concept" and its geography can cover all countries bordering it.
Military correspondent Yuri Podolyaka stated that a war between Russia and Azerbaijan "is going from theoretical to quite probable" against the backdrop of a change in Baku's position and the possible lifting of the embargo on arms supplies to Ukraine. He even called it advantageous to "empty the arsenals of the Azerbaijani army" through Ukraine, so that these same shells are not then used "against the Russian Federation" in a possible war in the Caucasus.
Such statements show that this is no longer just the improvisation of one propagandist, but a deliberate escalation of tension by people associated with the Russian government and security forces. Despite the emotional attacks, one reasonable idea can be singled out in the propaganda speeches - Russia should step up its diplomatic efforts.
However, this should be done not to demonstrate respect for Moscow, but to correct the mistakes in relations with Azerbaijan made over the past eight months. If the Kremlin understands this, it will take a lot of work to convince Baku that the delay in admitting guilt for the downed AZAL plane was a huge mistake.
First, all the formalities will need to be completed - punish the perpetrators and pay compensation. In the event of escalation, the conflict could become a serious test for Russia, especially given the growing international interest in the Zangazur Corridor.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan, despite the streams of insults and threats, is developing in the most successful way. Here, one cannot fail to note the role of the head of state Ilham Aliyev - not only as a politician and diplomat with outstanding talent, but also as a successful businessman.
The agreements signed on August 8 in Washington provided serious guarantees and economic advantages for the countries of the region, opening up new opportunities for cooperation with US President Donald Trump and part of the global financial community.
While Moscow stubbornly continues propaganda and threats, the caravan moves forward - along the Zangazur Corridor, bringing profit to those who respect Azerbaijan, which has become a strong and confident regional leader. In such conditions, Russian propagandists and individual politicians who resort to threats and insults look increasingly ineffective, while Azerbaijan moves forward, building constructive international relations.
