Baku may consider serving as a dialogue platform, communication channel or participant in humanitarian initiatives as part of international efforts to settle the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Russia Rahman Mustafayev said.
According to Report, he made the remarks in an interview with Lenta.Ru while commenting on a closed meeting between Russian and German representatives held in Baku in July.
Mustafayev said that if any of these roles were needed in the future, Baku would consider relevant proposals and respond accordingly.
"However, at this point I cannot say anything concrete on this issue," the ambassador said.
Speaking about efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Mustafayev stressed that Azerbaijan consistently supports the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and the inviolability of state borders.
He recalled that Azerbaijan's position has been stated on numerous occasions by President Ilham Aliyev, including recently at the international media forum in Shusha.
"We firmly and consistently support the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and the inviolability of state borders. No country's borders can be changed by force or without the consent of its people. Our position on this issue remains unchanged," Mustafayev said.
