The Baku Initiative Group has expressed solidarity with the Sikh community protesting in India, according to BIG's statement in a post on X, cited by Report.
The post notes that Sikh community leaders and members protested outside the Panjokhra Sahib Police Station in Ambala, calling on the Indian Government to take immediate and impartial action against anti-Khalistan activists.
"The Baku Initiative Group stands in solidarity with the Sikh community and calls on the Indian Government to ensure equal protection before the law, accountability, due process, and the protection of Sikh religious spaces and community members," the post reads.
On August 7, a clash occurred in the city of Ambala in India's Haryana state between Sikhs and activists opposed to the movement for the creation of an independent Khalistan. Two police officers were also injured in the incident. Police detained two young Sikhs, following which members of the Sikh community staged a protest outside the police station, demanding their release.
