Azerbaijani MP proposes to prepare draft resolution condemning transfer of Zangazur and Yerevan to Armenia

At a special session of parliament held Thursday themed "National Leader Heydar Aliyev is the author of the Constitution of independent Azerbaijan," MP Kamal Jafarov proposed preparing a draft resolution condemning the separation of Zangazur and Yerevan from Azerbaijan and their transfer to Armenia, Report informs.

Jafarov noted that President Ilham Aliyev, during a meeting with Western Azerbaijanis on December 24, 2022, called the transfer of Yerevan to Armenia by the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic a betrayal and a crime:

"This is an objective historical truth. Based on these ideas, in order to legally eliminate historical injustice, I propose to prepare a draft resolution of the Milli Majlis condemning the decision of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic regarding Yerevan within the framework of the Year of Constitution and Sovereignty. In parallel, I propose to adopt a separate resolution condemning the fact that Zangazur was separated from Azerbaijan and transferred to Armenia by the decision of the Soviet government in 1920.

All this once again proves that statehood is not a coincidence, but a path that requires strategic thinking, national will and continuous struggle. We embarked on this path with the wise policy of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, gained even more power under the leadership of Ilham Aliyev, and we became stronger, independent and sovereign than ever before in history."
