Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has hosted a briefing for representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan with the participation of Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Azerbaijani presidential aide - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev, Report informs referring to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
During the briefing, the participants were provided with detailed information on urgent and adequate measures taken to prevent tension caused by large-scale military provocations of the Armenian armed forces in the direction of the Kalbajar, Lachin and Dashkesan districts. It was noted that Azerbaijan’s retaliatory steps are aimed at legitimate military targets and not at the civilian population.
It was noted that this act of aggression, committed on a conditional state border, is an element of the chain of military and political provocations committed by Armenia in recent days. Among such provocations are the gross violation by Armenia of the provisions of the tripartite statements signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia, the incomplete withdrawal of Armenian armed formations from the territory of Azerbaijan, the continuation of work on mining the territories of Azerbaijan, etc.
It was emphasized that military tension in the region is contrary to the interests of the Azerbaijani side in the context of the return of families of internally displaced persons to the Agali village in the Zangilan district, as well as against the backdrop of restoration work being carried out in the liberated territories.
At the end, the position of the briefing participants was heard and answers were given to the questions asked.
